What is Qi Gong?

Qi (chee) = life force or vital energy

Gong = practice

Translation: “The Practice of Cultivating Vitality.”

Qi Gong utilizes visualization techniques, breath control, and repeated fluid movements to channel the flow of Qi throughout the meridians in the body to release illness and disease that cause blockages and promote wellness. Many describe it as giving yourself an acupuncture treatment without the needles.

Internal arts practices like Qi Gong, Yoga and other mindful activities have great benefit to our health and wellbeing. not only do these practices, habits and devotions to our Life help us to make space in our worlds for peace, and reflective self-awareness, but they help us to further link our mindful awareness with our bodily harmony. Meditation and qi gong can help us gain experience living from a centered place within ourselves, a practice benefitical to our evertyday lives, and ultimately our long term health!

Practicing in a group or larger 'field' supports and boosts our own meditation or qi gong practices simply by being in a larger harmonic resonance with one another in the group, working towards a common mindful, healthful goal!

Chinese Essence Qi Gong

Developed by the Chinese Academy of Somatic Science after years of research and discussion among scientists, traditional Chinese medicine experts, philosphers and the major Qigong masters in China, Chinese Essence Qigong takes the 'best practices' of many forms and simplifies it into one - designed for the public to learn and practice easily. It is easy to learn and is a good way to harmonize body, spirit and mind. Through years of practice by thousands of people, this form has been proven to be very effective in eliminating diseases, improving health, balancing emotions and refining the spirit.

Dr. Tony Murczek, Naturopathic Physican, visited China in early 2015 to spend time practicing Chinese Essence Qigong with his teacher, Master Chen. Learn this powerful form and begin incorporating this mindful practice into your life!

Dr. Murczek has practiced the Chinese art of Qi Gong since 1996, when he began studying under Professor Chen, Hui Xian at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.

Soaring Crane Qi Gong

Soaring Crane Qi Gong is one of the top three among thousands of Chinese forms. The routines are easy to learn and the benefits are generally swift. Sessions run 45 minutes and encompass two phases:

Phase One

During the first phase, five routines are performed using visualization and breathing techniques, as well as subtle movements that emulate cranes in flight.

The Five Routines

Gathering Qi from the Six Directions

Penetrating the Heavens and the Earth

Crane's Head Carrying Qi through Governor Vessel and Conception Vessel

Crane Touching Water

Mingling with the Source of All Qi

Phase Two

The second phase is called Standing Meditation or “The Wise Doctor,” and is designed to channel the flow of Qi to areas in the body that require healing.

Who Benefits from Qi Gong?

Anyone with a desire to improve their mind, body and spirit can practice Qi Gong with few exceptions. Qi Gong is not for pregnant women or anyone diagnosed with mental disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar, or borderline personality.
